Accessibility at Wisps of Wool Retreat

Access and Inclusion Statement 

​

At Wisps of Wool Retreat, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and restful environment for all guests. We recognise the diverse needs of our visitors and continually work to ensure our space is as accessible and accommodating as possible, while being honest about the nature of our rural setting.

 

Accessibility Features:

• A designated accessible car park, close to the entrance

• Wide front and back doors for easier entry

• Single level, open-plan living, dining, kitchen areas and outdoor veranda that allow for smooth movement and mobility

• A spacious bathroom with open access

• Mostly accessible kitchen cupboards, designed to be within reach from seated or standing positions

• Flat, open grounds around the house, suitable for assisted mobility and navigation

 

Things to Note:

• There are three steps at both the front and back entrances to the home, ramp access is not yet available.

• Interior spaces are uncluttered and easy to navigate, but the home is not fully wheelchair accessible.

 

We warmly welcome enquiries from guests with specific accessibility needs and are happy to answer any questions and do what we can to help you plan your stay comfortably. As we grow, we are exploring future enhancements to improve access and inclusion even further.

Sustainability Statement

​

At Wisps of Wool Retreat, caring for the land, respecting cultural heritage and supporting our local community are part of how we operate. Set within three acres of rural bushland, we continue to make thoughtful, practical choices about the resources we use, the products we purchase and the way we care for the property.

Our practices include:

• Solar energy: Solar panels contribute to the property's electricity needs.

• Thoughtful use of resources: Energy-efficient appliances, natural ventilation and natural light are used throughout the retreat.

• Water: Our water is drawn from a deep artesian bore and treated onsite, with rainwater used for the garden and animals.

• Land care: Native planting, considered fencing and grazing practices support the care of our paddocks and surrounding habitat.

• Reducing waste: Food scraps are used to feed our animals, refillable guest amenities reduce single-use packaging, and recycling facilities are provided for guests.

• Low-tox choices: We use low-tox cleaning products and have chosen low-tox flooring within the retreat.

• Supporting local: Wherever practical, we choose local producers, makers, practitioners and businesses for our guest experiences and operations.

• Respect for Country: Wisps of Wool Retreat acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Country on which we are located and seeks to share the stories of place respectfully.

• Caring for habitat: Native planting and ongoing property care help protect the natural character and habitat surrounding the retreat.

• Reuse and restoration: Where possible, we value existing materials and objects, restoring and repurposing pieces rather than replacing them simply because they are old.

At Wisps of Wool Retreat, we believe luxury can be thoughtful as well as beautiful. Our approach is one of ongoing care, making considered choices, continuing to learn and looking for practical ways to reduce waste and care for this place.

With deep respect and in the spirit of reconciliation, we work to preserve cultural heritage. Before building, a Welcome to Country ceremony led by Wolithiga Elder Rick Ronan, celebrated our commitment to care for this land’s ancient legacy, enriching the experience of all who visit Wisps of Wool Retreat.
